BIG HEARTED JIM (Mason, M. 2013) 06-24
Tet Dormant 46” Early Mid 8” unusual form, spatulate-crispate
This seedling had been crying for introduction, but Bob and I were struggling to find a name. Sadly, our friend and long-time captain of the Hudson Adirondack Daylily Society passed away this fall. It only seemed fitting to name this striking purple for Jim Healey. Jim contributed so much to daylilies, our club, our region, and to many of us individually. “Big-hearted” indeed captures Jim’s spirit. Strong scapes hold clear black purple blooms aloft despite wind or rain. Throat is butter yellow. Three way branching and 15 buds. Fertile both ways. (Astral Voyager x Unknown).
