Pince Nez (Mason M. 2000)|
*PINCE NEZ (Mason, M. 2000) Sev 22" M 4"
PINCE NEZ's deep black red color might lead you to think that it would turn to mud in sunlight. Not so! This little guy laughs at the hottest dryest weather. This is a fairly short plant, but branching and bud count are quite reasonable, and the bloom season is long. Two-thirds of the petals fold lengthwise, but this is insufficient for a Unusual Form designation. Still, they remind me of the opera glasses that sit on the end of your nose that are known as "pince nez" in French. Literally, "pinch nose!" (Vintage Bordeaux X seedling) |
